2025 Highlights
We are just two weeks into 2026 and spending some time reflecting back on the amazing season that we had waaaay back in 2025! What a year of whale watching and iceberg sightings! We started off strong with whales right from our first day out and icebergs on day 2!
Icebergs
The icebergs were all on the Bonavista Bay side of the peninsula this year and were beautiful. They were close to shore so managed to get some great shots of the boat with the berg for scale.

Sperm Whales
The sperm whales arrived early this year with some old friends as well as some newbies in the group. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post on who we saw out there this season! Sadly they left early this year too. Was it because of reduced air quality due to the forest fires across the bay from us or something else? We will probably never know.

Tropical Waters
Herring spawning activity created some tropical looking colour in the waters of Bonavista Bay in May and June. So neat to be able to share this with our guests.

Orca Whales
We were lucky to have Orcas 3 times this past season! Of all of the whales in our area, they are the most unpredictable so when we do get to see them, it is real treat!

Humpback Whales
The humpback acrobatics this year were AMAZING! Mary-Lou the humpback treated us to 55 breaches on just one trip! What a whale!
We enjoyed several days of a large feeding group and were really excited to record their vocalizations. As Captain Kris says, they’re coming up with their game plan for capturing the capelin! When whales get their bellies full, they like to play. There were so many great breaches this year but this shot takes the cake!

We finished the season off strong in October with whales and dolphins and so much gratitude for a wonderful season. We really enjoy sharing what we are seeing out there with you all and can hardly wait to share the best of what Newfoundland has to offer next season!
